Woes of a one van fam

Each weekday morning we get up to have family scripture study at 5:20am. David and Tawny leave at 6:00 to get to their seminary class by 6:15 across town. This morning the van only helped them get there. It got them half way home, and then decided it was done for the day.

This got me thinking about how blessed we are. We live in a town that has a pretty good bus service that will take us to within 5 blocks of wherever we need to go. We are healthy and strong and able to walk those 5 blocks with relative ease.

Sometimes I almost feel sorry for us, 3 licensed drivers (4 in April), and 3 cars, 2 have gone the way of old rusty vehicles and now sit in their hallowed place beside our house. And the van - the embarrassment of Tawny- Fully carpeted and paneled inside, 6 captain chairs and a bench seat, just large enough for the entire clan to fit, all seat belts work with much coaxing, lots of miles, terrible on gas, but (and here’s the clincher) it’s paid for! At least until we get the bill from the mechanic.
