on January 8th 1966 the Beatles "We can Work it Out' went to #1 on the charts. The 'King' (Elvis for those who may be thinking of Simba...) was celebrating his birthday not knowing that he would be sharing this incredible day with an amazing man. On the Saturday in Raleigh North Carolina Bill Inman was introduced into the world.
I think this event is worth celebrating, that is why I tried to think ahead and do some special things for my man. Tried being the operative word....
A few years ago I made Bill a silk pillow case. He loved it so much that he took it everywhere (even Scout Camp). After a few years of wear it looks like this (both sides): So I ordered some silk from a fabric store (I tried to find it in local stores, but it's not an easy material to come by). I ordered it on December 27th, still no silk....grrrrr!
One of Bill's pieces of art was personally chosen by Richard Schmid to be in a 2 page spread of Art Connoisseur magazine (Bottom right):
So I thought it might be nice to get a poster of the spread made and framed and have the issue of the magazine with it. Can anyone tell me why snapfish has size 12X18 posters available when nobody carries that size frame? It's like the hot dogs and the buns problem, except frames are harder to find! I found one after searching both Walmarts, and it was busted in the corners. Hobby Lobby had none. I'm not going to spend a fortune getting a frame made! So I improvised.....A little Gorilla tape can fix anything!
I had ordered the back issue of Art Connoisseur (July/Aug 2009) a few weeks ago, which was good because they sent the July/Aug 2008 issue instead. I was able to call and let them know they sent the wrong one, and the day before yesterday I finally received the envelope to correct their mishap. I opened it up to find the current (Jan/Feb 2010) issue. I almost cried. I called again, they're sending the right one out (so they say), but it won't be here in today for his birthday....grrrr!!
So I'm hoping to make a fabulous meal to make up for my lack of fabulous gifts:
Almond crusted salmon
Sourdough baguettes
Steamed broccoli with pearl onion sauce
Roasted mini herbed potatoes
and Ice cream cake
If any of it turns out I'll share recipes & pics....

So frustrating when good plans get foiled by others. Happy Birthday to Bill.
