The McCoullough park is getting a facelift. (the new equipment is hard to see in the background - very neutral colors)The new equipment has some funky stuff to it. Only one part is ready to play on, the rest will be done within a day or so.It's supposed to help with coordination and development...where was this stuff when I was growing up? I guess I had horses to help me - a bit.
The men working on the playground said the old stuff would probably be removed, they don't understand that the old stuff also helped with development and coordination. Like the the rebar sticking out of the wood walls. I think learning to not fall on those was definatly a chance for coordination, plus if a kid did happen to get cut by one they got to learn all about tetnis, a missed oportunity for so many kids now.
And gone will be the tube ladder that every teen age boy (and some of the girls) in Muncie have probably peed in. How can my children develope and learn to read spraypaint words if these are taken out??
And gone will be the black tire shreds that made anything my kids wore to the park black. I'm not sure how they will find evironments that can cause the kind of mess they were capable of making here, we'll have to look elsewhere now.
Moms will actually feel good about bringing their kids out this way for a play group now, we've always considared this our own private playground, that means interaction with other people.. oh what will we do?
The street coming into the park is even getting a new look. It looks like they're widening it. I enjoyed the challange of walking under that bridge on the one lane blind curve!
I was trying to imagine taking steps that made me have to lift my leg to the level of my hips I think he's doing a better job than I would...Enoch loves the slide down!
We have been battleing Enoch on feeding himself. It's mostly a breakfast issue, but he has gotten so much better lately!

Looks nice and warm...keep it that way for a few more weeks will ya? Finally getting rid of the shredded tires...hooray!
We have a park like that in Greenfield, but it sounds a lot nicer than McCullough. It's nice to have a place to yourself.
Enoch is too cute! I love that he goes down the slide on his belly. And I LOVE that he sticks his tongue out while he is eating!
Getting so big...
