Yes all my kids were blondies at one point or another (naturally that is...) So here's the scoop:
Harrison is on the Muncie Central HS diving team. As a tradition all the swimmers and divers of male persuasion bleach their hair, then they shave their heads. I'm sure this little ritual was developed to instill team unity and all that, but isn't that what uniforms and stuff were for? Harrison told us of the bleaching just a day before it happened. We didn't know the time line, so when he came home bleached, it caught us off guard. We hadn't decided if it was officially a 'go' or not. But now the next step is the shaving of the heads.
I have one BIG issue with this...Elders should keep their hair trimmed above the collar and ears. Extreme or bulky styles are not acceptable. Now I know Harrison isn't a missionary yet, but these young priesthood holders are not supposed to do anything to themselves that would draw attention away from the Sacrament when they serve it on Sunday. I think these hairstyles are extreme and crosses the line, what do you think? (Just as a FYI, Harrison has chosen not to shave his head on his own accord.)
