sending greetings issues

I must be a pretty amazing person because I have so many friends - most of which must not read my blog because I don't get many comments. The reason I know I have so many friends is because I mailed out 90 Christmas cards this year. OK- some might be Bill's friends, and some are family, not to be confused with 'friends' (that's a joke for any family that might be reading this). I have always felt a Christmas card is important, and we've been doing newsletters for around 14 or 15 years now (how I wish I had a copy of all those...). This is the only mode of communication I have with many people out there. I have some questions though..

1- Do you give cards to people who live in your neighborhood? I feel silly giving a card/newsletter to people I see everyday, they already know everything!
2- That brings me to this... if you know they read your blog and know the goings on already, do you still send a Christmas greeting via snail mail?

3- How many years do you continue to send out Yuletide greetings without receiving any word back?

4- Is it really tacky to send Christmas cards via Internet and save (what's 90 X 42 cents plus cards, ink & paper) around $50.00? (more than I spent on my kids:-)

5- What do you do to send Christmas cheer to you & yours?

I'm struggling with all those same issues. I actually have a bunch of photo cards to send out, but I haven't started addressing envelopes. I didn't do a "newsy" letter this year, just because I feel like my blog says it all - so I gave a few tidbits of "us" in a silly poem. I feel weird giving that stuff to people I see every day, too, so I'll be very impressed with myself if I can take some goodies around town instead. Or maybe I'll just e-mail everyone and let my kids play with our photo cards. :P

I read your blog! I admire your persistence, I started one in Oct. and haven't written anything on it yet! That is one of my new years resolutions though :) It is nice to get a card if it is someone you don't see often or a close friend you like to have pictures of. It's the people in between I am confused about. Anywho, it is nice of you to think of us all! The kids are growing fast, keep writing!

1. I give a card to those in my neighborhood because I know they don't read my blog. The people in the ward that I "gift" just get a gift tag.

2. Everyone loves snail mail, I say yes, send them out.

3. 2 years. No hear, no card! I am constantly updating my list. If I don't hear from someone (with the exception of some really old family members) they no longer get a card.

4. Yes, I think it's tacky to send Internet cards. A Christmas card, in the mail, is your gift to those you send it to. But 90 is quite a few!!
