twilight

My girls got me started on the "twilight' series this past summer. I read them all. And now in roughly 14 hours the movie will be released.

I will go see it - of course- but not until it hits five buck club , about 2 weeks. There's a group of us that are planning a girl's night out.

I have to see it, but I'm thinking I'm not going to be impressed. Edward is just not how I envisioned him for starters. Is the movie ever as good as the book?

Bill and I were discussing certain aspects of the series, and the last book, "breaking dawn", made me re-evaluate some of the concepts in the previous three books. If you haven't read the series, then you won't understand the character references, but I think you'll get the gist of what I'm saying.
I think the series uses the concept in "the legend of Johnny Lingo" and the 8 cow wife. He saw something more in her than anyone else, or even herself. But in the relationship between Edward and Bella there are a few more kinks. It got a little redundant when Bella kept up her self effacing ways. She believed herself to be a mousy little nobody. On the other end she believed Edward to be perfection. It went beyond simply uplifting her - or maybe it's better said, just short of- because until the end she felt less than he deserved and she was a little to whinny about everything. Because I saw her that way through 3 and 1/2 books, it was hard to understand the transformation later (I don't want to ruin for you... go read them if you haven't already!!). It seemed a little too quick.
So for me 'twilight' is a love hate relationship, I'm sucked in like I'm sucked into eating the last piece of cheesecake when I'm totally full and everybody else has gone to bed. Who knows? Maybe the movie will be sweeter than expected...
