apples

We love the 'apple people' at the farmer's market. We get 20lbs of beauties for $7.00. We have polished off around 40 lbs in a week. We purchased that much again this week. Now there's not many things a mother loves to see more than her children eating apples as snacks. There's not many things a parent can't stand as much as to see half-eaten apples lying around random places in the house, bathroom sinks, living room couch, front porch?!?! Because of my Scottish blood there's something in me that cringes at wasting food, so I gather, wash, and juice the throw offs, still perfectly good! Bill has Cherokee Indian blood in him, and due to this he must gather food where ever we are. (Driving by the minnitrista) Bill: Hey those apple trees reach over the fence, that means they're public property - let's go gather. Because we have seven children who eat twice their weight on a daily basis people feel sorry for us, and bring buckets of apples for us. I now have around 100 lbs to 'take care of'. So if I'm bringing a dish to anything, it will have apples, if you find an apple pie, loaf of apple bread, apple dumplings, or apple sauce on your doorstep, your welcome in advance!
how do you like them apples?

Mmm...apples are why I love autumn. Apple crisp, apple bread, applesauce...just apples eaten raw. I think this year I'm going to try to find a recipe for apple muffins. Enjoy them apples! I'm so jealous that you can find them dirt cheap. :)

My grandmother has an apple tree and it was always so fun to go over there and climb up the tree to pick the ones within reach. she made this great apple roll up. We always canned apple butter with what was leftover. Mmmmm... I too am jealous you can get them so cheap!
