weddings, muffins, and hair

There seems to be a cliche about Mormons and the fact that once kids start out on missions -weddings, other missions, grandchildren, all that stuff compounds (and complicates) the life of the parents. So when I was recently told of wedding plans of one of my daughters I shuddered to think how I would handle everything. I feel even more for the grooms parents, they have a wedding in April already! Danni assures me they will wait a few more years though, so that's a relief!

I recently read a recipe off of a friend's blog about an 'ooey gooey St Louis cake'. I took it and made it mine, mostly by ditching the boxed cake mix and doing it all from scratch. Yum!! I used it for cupcakes and took them to a party ysterday, big hit! I could eat these babies all day long. comment if you want the recipe, I'll post it for you!

I started doing our family's hair since before Bill and I were married. I figure I save our family roughly $900 to $1200 a year, depending on how many colorings and highlightings I do. I do get my hair cut porfessionally, about twice a year I see Madonna over at the JC Penny Salon.
Eve came to me wanting long layers in her hair a week or so ago, but we have not been able to get together until today. She is so beautiful! Her hair turned out very nice.
I put my melon in the photos because I also 'did' my hair. I have had a long going love/hate relationship with henna. I love love love it until it does something i hate, then hate hate hate it and don't use it again until I'm sick of either grey hairs or chemical poisons that all the other colors use in their hair dyes.
So I tried henna again, a different one - Rainbow Henna, med auburn. Henna is tricky to use, water must be boiled, no metal, consistancy must be right...etc. I suppose once a person is used to it it's not so bad. I had to leave it in my hair for 2 hours, good excuse to sit and watch a movie:-) Certain ingredients help color adhere to the hair better - like apple cidar vinager (Easter eggs memories), coffee helps to deepen the colors, and olive oil can help condition the hair. I happened to have some of the forbidden brew (coffee) in the freezer from when Bill's parents visited us, it's the first time I've used this mixture. I like the results. I hope it will last a while.
I really should put some makeup on before I get pictures taken.....

Wait. Did you just say that one of your girls is getting married? Wow -- how exciting! But really, Kristi, your kids ARE growing up so fast! I look at the pictures you post of the twins and can't help but remember the days when they were in my Activity Days group!

Eve's hair is gorgeous! (Yours ain't half bad either!)

Clarification - Danni was talking about getting married? Because Lindsay's comment makes me question what I just read...

I love your new apron (sorry, commenting to two posts here...) and Danni's. Do you know where they were bought?
