Halloween candy under control!

In years past I would start buying Halloween candy in advance, you know, so I didn't get left at the last minute with no more candy on the shelves and left with nothing to hand the two trick-or-treaters who have enough guts to come to our neighborhood. I would buy a bag (of one of my favorites, like Recess or Almond Joy), open it on the way home and 'sample' a couple, and before I went to bed half the bag would easily be gone. I found creative ways of folding the bag to make it look full - so as not to get caught. Then the next day I would realize it was a fruitless effort, polish off the rest of the bag, and pick up another on my next shopping trip.

So this year I changed. I didn't buy any candy in advance - nada! Bill and I went to Aldi's at 4:45 on Halloween night and picked up a few bags out of their discount bins. I also started my fast Saturday at 1:00pm so the candy would not be an option anyway. So the pre-Halloween problem has been taken care of! Now I have a ton of candy left (because we did get 2 trick-or-treaters) and I'm left with a post-Halloween problem. Bill is planning to take the excess to his studio, but he hasn't yet, it's just sitting there hidden under all his stuff begging to be eaten. And yes, I have given in - I have had 3 mini candy bars and a mini mini. I'm hoping I can be strong until this bag disappears. Anyone want some candy?

I have Halloween candy issues as well. I am exactly halfway through my weight loss goal, and I have given in to the candy temptation. That being said...

We went Trick or Treating with Little Sal. When we got home, I turned our porch light on, and when kids would ring the bell I let Little Sal give them candy out of his bag. He was very generous! That may seem totally cheap of me, but it really cut down on the amount of temptation sitting around the house. Plus, i don't think Little Sal really cared. I'm sure I won't be able to do that much longer, but it worked out well for this year.

Only 2 kids stopped by? Hmmmm...maybe next year you can give those same two kids half a bag of candy and you'll be good to go. :)

Whenever I have stuff in the house that I like, it is such a temptation. If it's not in the house, I do much better! I have learned to buy Halloween candy I don't like. If it's chocolate, I can't seem to stay away from it, unless it is Almond Joy or Hershey. So I buy Almond Joy, Hershey and fruity type stuff.
