gardening 101.5

I used to tease my mom - I'd compare her to 'Rabbit' out of Pooh, the way she would count every plant...silly woman!
I was accused of something I have never been accused of before... someone told me I have a green thumb! I do love my garden, and I am so proud of it's growth, here's the garden last Monday:

Here it is today:I just picked lettuce for our dinner Sunday, so it looks smaller, but considering how much we picked, it's still impressive!David's back yard has been 'bombed' with squash plants, I found our first squash blossom yesterday: We have been eagerly awaiting our first pepper. It won't be too long until we'll be able to add him to our salad!
I counted (yes mom, I said counted...) 5 little tomatoes yesterday. I can't count all the blossoms, there are tons!

So how am I able to get told by a gentleman sitting in his pickup truck in the alley that I have a green thumb when, in the past, I have usually killed or done very poorly at growing plants? I figure there are a few reasons:

A- We pray over this garden morning noon and night!

B- I ask questions when I see people who have plants that look better than mine. Like some advice I got a couple of weeks ago was to add Epsom salts and powdered milk to the base of my tomato plants. (About a TBlS to a TBlS mix)

C- I look things up on the Internet and try to learn from gardeners who have had good luck with certain plants. I found out that I should pinch off any lower tomato leaves and keep them off the ground to prevent rotting.

D- I know I mentioned this before, and many agreed, I go out daily and express my love and impressive thoughts to all my pretty little plants.

E- I bought some 100% organic plant food at the Minnetrista gardener's show a couple of weeks ago and have been feeding my garden very nutritious and stinky food!

F- But the real reason people think I have a green thumb now is probably because of my super uber cool gardening attire! The kids think it makes me look like an old woman, but Danni enjoys the hat.
After Enoch's bath yesterday Aurora played with his hair and put it up into a mow hawk (yuk!). He woke up this morning reminding me a little of the penguin off 'Surf's Up'.

I am gardening too. I used to laugh at my neighbors for having to work out in their garden all summer long but now I am thankful that I helped them out a bit too. We just harvested our first fruits of our garden. RADISHES!!!
