poperrie

I am still trying my hand at window painting. This is my latest. It's about 3 feet wide by 5 1/2 feet tall. The kids are into painting windows now too, it looks like I live in a stained glass house. I'll get pics of theirs and start posting them, they're very good!

I thought I would to some updates from an earlier post: Lemon Meringue Pie & Laundry Det
First off, I'm loving the laundry detergent!
Secondly - upon request~
Here's the recipe for the pie (courtesy of Better Homes & Gardens) :
Lemon Meringue Pie
1 ½ C sugar 3 Tbls cornstarch
3 Tbls flour
1/1/2 C water
3 eggs
2 Tbls butter
½ tsp shredded lemon peel
1/3 C lemon juice
1 baked pie crust
(Meringue)
3 eggs whites
½ tsp vanilla
¼ tsp crème of tartar
6 Tbs sugar ( I use no more than 5)
Whip egg whites, vanilla & cream of tartar till soft peaks form, gradually add sugar 1 Tbs at a time. Whip until glossy peaks form.
In med sauce pan combine sugar, cornstarch, flour dash of salt. Gradually stir in water. Cook over med-high heat until thickened, reduce heat, cook & stir 2 minutes. Remove from heat. Separate eggs, set whites aside for meringue. Beat yolks, add 1 C mixture to yolks, mix then add back to sauce pan, bring to gentle boil for 2 more minutes, remove from heat. Stir in butter & lemon peel, gradually stir in lemon juice, pour into pie crust, add meringue and bake at350 for 12 to 15 min, until meringue is golden.

A group of 7 of us finally made the trek to Twilight last night. I really didn't want to enjoy it, and of course the book was way better, and needed to be read before watching the movie (One in our group hadn't read it and didn't have the same experience the rest of us had- she actually had the hots for Carlisle - imagine that:-). Some parts of the movie were obviously Hollwoodized, but for the most part it stayed true to the story and characters. So I give it 4 stars (out of 5) and say -Go See It Already!
I don't pine over Edward like so many do, maybe because I have my own 'Edward' (who's name happens to be Bill) who already worships the ground I walk on:-)

You must be a domestic Goddess indeed if you make Lemon Meringue pie. Of course Bill worships
the ground you walk on.

The window painting is really impressive. Bill's not the only one with that artistic talent I see! Are you sneaking into touch up his paintings when he isn't looking?! It's gorgous. I can't wait to see what the kids came up with.
