home made enchiladas

Because of Tawny's taxing schedule of play practice and homecoming events last week we traded days on the meal calendar. That meant that she had dinner last night. She also invited a friend over to sup with us. She made home made enchiladas, even the tortillas and tomatoes sauce were made from scratch. They were vegetarian, and the produce was from the farmer's market. It was soooo yummy! She also made french bread and bon bons. I heard her comment to one of her sisters while making this food, "We are so lucky to have the means to buy the ingredients to make this kind of food, there are lots of people out there who can't." -WOW- what a mature thought...
While at the table the friend commented on how nice having dinner together was. She's an only child and her family eats what they prepare for themselves individually when they get hungry. I've heard of families that do it that way, to me it seems strange. I also know of families with no bedtime regime. They just kind of go to bed when they're tired. We have a bedtime ritual, we kneel and pray together, hugs and kisses to everyone, brush teeth, go to bed. Even David follows it when he's not at institute or a night class. I was commenting on how strange that would be and he mentioned that we might be the strange ones.... hmmm, what do you think?

Enchiladas all around, indeed! You, me, and apparently that's what my family back in Utah also made for dinner. ESP anyone? :)

I'm impressed that your kids not only cook meals but cook them well. I like your idea of monthly meal planning. I'd like to institute it at our house now, but I don't think Garrett would be up to the task quite yet. :)

I'm all about bedtime routine. I like having a set bedtime and a set way of drifting off to dreamland. I too like that your kids cook. What great skills they will have when they leave the house! I love when my little family can all eat together. Even if that is just for 20 minutes (that is about as long as Little Sal can last.) I'm excited for the day when my kids are older and we can chat more around the table and we're not so focused on actually getting something in their bellies instead of the floors!
