a proud moment

Every so often a child does something that makes me stand back and think I actually didn't do such a bad job. I've felt that way with all of my children during one time or another, but right now it's about David.
David walks down a hall in the art building on campus that leads from one class to another. He noticed a photograph hung a couple of weeks ago that was very disturbing and pornographic. He went to the art dept. office and asked that something be done about it (I don't think many young men ask for things to be removed!) They stuck a sticky-note over it. The photo prof got angry and removed the sticky-note. So David made a petition. His goal is 200 signatures, right now he's at 38. I know all of you would sign it, but he's keeping to the BSU/Muncie populace. It's so easy to quit at the first road block. He tried to do something about it and he was disappointed. He found a different approach, and he has another plan in his pocket if this doesn't work. Living in the 'art world' we are always hit with the arguments over freedoms -and beauty to one may not be for another, and so on. We just try to steer clear of situations that aren't to our expectation. When disgusting 'art' is forced into our realm of sight, then steps must be taken. If any BSU grads want to voice in on the petition you can here: http://www.thepetitionsite.com/1/Restrict-Explicit-Pornography-Ball-State <https://webmail.bsu.edu/exchweb/bin/redir.asp?URL=http://www.thepetitionsite.com/1/Restrict-Explicit-Pornography-Ball-State>

Kimberlie sent me that petition link earlier today and I totally tried to sign it (because pornographic art?! What is up with that?!). But alas, my former username and password doesn't work anymore. Do know, though, that I'm definitely signing it in spirit. ;)

It's moments like these that I look forward to as I raise my family -- the moments when I can sit back and know that I did something right as I taught them. Go David!
